Alabama Football Losing Large Portion Of Roster, Recruits And Transfers

The Alabama Crimson Tide are struggling to keep it together following the departure of Nick Saban.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have lost quite a bit since the departure of Nick Saban.

The Tide were seemingly blindsided by Saban's retirement in early January, giving way to new head coach Kalen DeBoer. Since DeBoer's hiring there has been a mass exodus of players from the program - both recruits and current players on the roster.

It hasn't been a slew of no-name, backups that didn't make a splash for Alabama. It's big-time receivers, starting safeties, important offensive linemen - 13 total starters have either graduated, declared for the NFL, or entered the transfer portal. 10 second-string players have done the same.

28 players in total have entered the transfer portal. A fair portion of which left before Saban did, to be fair, but the players that are now leaving the Crimson Tide are high-profile contributors.

It will be interesting to watch Kalen DeBoer rebound from the massive loss of production and depth. Thankfully, the Crimson Tide have managed to hang onto their starting quarterback Jalen Milroe. Maybe he will be a piece to build around for 2024.
