In this story:

Last night, Malik Blocton and the Pike Road Patriots took the hour-long trip to play against the Russell County Warriors. It was a game full of scoring and high offense power. Pike Road’s running game and points scored on defense were the star of the show, finishing the night with 63 points. Russell County has a freshman, Bryson Riggins, starting at quarterback. A huge play for the Russell County Warriors was a 30-yard strike from their young quarterback to their fullback, Cole Trammel. The Patriots ended up on the winning side of things, 63-27.

Malik was decked out in Auburn gear and had solid production through the three quarters that he played. The Warriors didn’t run to Blocton’s side a lot last night, which was probably a good choice since the 6’4, 275 lbs lineman provides a massive threat to offenses. The 2024 4-star defensive lineman’s ability to stop the run was shown off on a few plays where he made his way to the backfield. This is what he had to say after the game:

Auburn Daily exclusive interview with Malik Blocton

Your team has advanced to 5-2 and 4-0 in region play. What are your hopes for the rest of the season?

Blocton- “Going undefeated for the rest of the season and win a state championship.”

What aspect of your play style would you say is your biggest strength?

Blocton- “Stopping the run. I feel like I’m a really good run stopper, but another thing I like about my game is you don’t have to take me out on third down because I can rush the passer too.”

How often do you talk with coaches at Auburn, and who do you talk to the most?

Blocton- “I talk to Coach Garrett like once a week. Coach Garrett and Coach Vontrell.”

Auburn’s defense is one of the best in the country. Are you liking what you’re seeing from Auburn’s defensive play?

Blocton- “I am. They’re playing really good. Playing lights out.”

You committed on July 8th, are you still locked in with Auburn?

Blocton- “100%”

When is your next visit to Auburn?

Blocton- “It’s going to be the next home game after the Ole Miss week. My official visit is going to be on the Iron Bowl.”
