Auburn Football First Fall Practice notes and observations

The media was granted a 30-minute viewing window to observe Auburn's first football practice of fall camp.
Here are some things we saw:
A lot of stretching, some special teams, and a little bit of pace.
When we walked out, quarterbacks were taking snaps from a center and handing off to a running back.
- Avery Jones was snapping to Payton Thorne and handing off to Damari Alston.
- Connor Lew was snapping to Robby Ashford and handing the ball to Brian Battie.
- Bradyn Joiner was snapping to Holen Geriner with several other running backs.
In the pace drill, we saw Payton Thorne with the starters.
- Payton Thorne stood next to Damari Alston in the backfield.
- Dillon Wade was at LT, Tate Johnson at LG, Avery Jones at C, Kam Stutts at RG, Gunner Britton at RT.
- Rivaldo Fairweather, Jyaire Shorter, Caleb Burton, and Ja'Varrius Johnson were also out there.
As the quarterbacks and wide receivers rotated, there were several great throws vs air from the four Auburn quarterbacks. Thorne threw a great ball to Caleb Burton. Holden Geriner hit Johnson on an outbreaking route that was the best throw and catch from the viewing window that I saw.
On defense, the starting defensive line was Jayson Jones, Marcus Harris, Elijah McAllister, and Mosiah Nasili-Kite. Then Justin Rodgers and Lawrence Johnson rotated in the interior after.
At linebacker, Cam Riley was paired with Austin Keys.
The rest was a lot of stretching and special teams. We will have more tomorrow.
