Fall Camp: August 8th practice notes and observations

Here's what stood out to us during the Auburn football practice viewing window.

Sunday was Auburn's first practice of fall camp in pads. Tuesday morning was the first time the media got to see Hugh Freeze's team padded us this fall.

Here's what stood out to us in our 30-minute window.

There were a lot more drills in this window vs what we've seen in previous windows.

First and foremost, Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter was back and at practice.

We saw quarterbacks Robby Ashford and Holden Geriner both throwing with the presumed starters or the "ones". The starting group looked the same.

Nick Mardner, Camden Brown, and Jay Fair were the receivers. The offensive line from left to right was Dillon Wade, Tate Johnson, Avery Jones, Kam Stutts, and Gunner Britton. Rivaldo Fairweather was at tight end. We saw different running backs with all of the groups. Damari Alston and Jeremiah Cobb seemed to get a lot of the reps there.

Payton Thorne was the quarterback with the "twos" today. Hank Brown came in with the final group.

With the group led by Brown, there was a rep where running back Jeremiah Cobb lined up at the slot and then motioned behind the quarterback before the snap. Could be a fun idea to see some of that this season.

After the offense ran some plays against air, the team went into stretches and then individual drills.

Later this week, the media is expected to see an open viewing window on Thursday and will hear from defensive coaches later in the day. On Friday, we will hear from more players around mid-day.
