In this story:

Auburn is on a roll as of late. After a complete beatdown of the Arkansas Razorbacks last week in Fayetteville, the Tigers return home this week to face the New Mexico State Aggies. Expect more of the same Saturday for these reasons:

1. The Tigers offense is getting better with each game

Payton Thorne and the receivers have finally found some chemistry and are looking to sharpen up the passing game a little more heading into the Iron Bowl next week. Jarquez Hunter is going to have another big day, as will the other running backs. Auburn has averaged 452.3 yards of offense per game during the three game win streak. Look for them to put up 500+ yards against NMSU.

2. The Tigers' defense has been solid all year

Like the offense, they have been stellar throughout this three game win streak. The Tigers are only allowing 288.6 yards and 12.6 points per game. Turnovers have been an important component of the defense and they have forced four of them in the previous three games for a season total of 17. Expect Auburn's defense to increase that total Saturday. In the end, Auburn will wear down the Aggies.

3. Hugh Freeze will not overlook New Mexico State, nor be distracted

Freeze was admittedly a little out of sorts last season when his Liberty team lost 49-14 to the Aggies. He will have some special things prepared for this game to send a statement going into the Alabama game next week. He knows this game is important for the season and long term success of the program.

4. Recruiting has been picking up steam in the last few weeks

Especially after the events of last weekend. While the New Mexico State game does not have the long visitor list that the Alabama game does, there will still be a number of important recruits at this game. A big win will leave a good taste in their mouths when they go home and give them something to think about before returning next week for the Iron Bowl.

5. The desire to keep the momentum going

Beating New Mexico State will improve the Tigers to 7-4 with the opportunity to pick up win number eight against the Crimson Tide next week. Don't  underestimate how important that is to these players and this coaching staff. There is a huge difference between 8-4 or 6-6 for bowl positioning and for what it says about where the program is headed.
