Auburn was able to take down the Samford Bulldogs 45-13 behind a big performance from the offense.

This was a good tune-up game for the offense, which was able to score 45 points and put up 562 yards of offense.

This has to make Auburn fans feel better about the offense as they prepare to head to College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies

Let's take a look at five guys who played well against Samford.

Payton Thorne

Payton Thorne did make a few mistakes, but all in all, he put up some big numbers against the Samford Bulldogs. The Auburn quarterback had 282 passing yards and a touchdown through the air. He also showed off the wheels by running for 123 yards and two touchdowns. If Auburn wants to overperform expectations, it will be up to Thorne, and he showed up in this ball game.

Robby Ashford

Auburn's backup quarterback, Robby Ashford, also had a good day. He completed three of four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 17 yards and a score on the ground. All Ashford does is score touchdowns. He is going to be very important to this offense, thanks to what he is able to do with his legs. Redzone Robby is a beast.

Jay Fair

Jay Fair is becoming a common theme on the winner's article, and another big game has him back once again. Fair had seven catches for 93 yards, giving him an average of 13.3 yards per catch. He is becoming a star before our very eyes on the Plains, and Auburn fans can't wait to see what he will do in SEC play.

Caleb Wooden

Caleb Wooden led the Tigers in tackles with six and also had 1.5 tackles for loss. Wooden received a 71 grade from PFF in 43 snaps, filling in for a banged-up safety room. It's good to see the depth in the defensive backfield paying off for the Auburn Tigers.

Jaylin Simpson

Jaylin Simpson picked off his third interception of the year and has played really well for Ron Roberts's defense so far this season. The Senior received a 73 PFF grade for what he did on the field with his 39 snaps. Auburn has one of the best secondaries in the SEC, and Simpson is a big reason why.
