Hank Brown discusses Freeze's comments about the open quarterback battle
Auburn's quarterback situation has been a major talking point for the past few seasons. Despite bringing back Payton Thorne as the starter entering 2024, it will still be a major point of conversation.
Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze added to the speculation when he said that the quarterback battle would be open this spring in his postgame remarks after the Music City Bowl loss to the Maryland Terps. The game featured little offensive success for the Auburn Tigers until true freshman Hank Brown entered the game and was able to move the ball through the air.
Brown discussed Freeze's comments on Tuesday's Locked On Auburn.
"You know, I heard him specifically say that obviously in the press conference," Brown said. "So that's just super exciting for me and, you know, just more motivating for me to keep grinding and working hard."
Brown got the support from his coaches after his successful two drives in the game.
"I think just the big picture of what they were telling me is they were just super proud of me," Brown said. "Just for the work that I've put in this year, you know, seeing it pay off at the very end and just excited for the future. They're excited to see what I can do in the future and just encouraging me to keep going and working really hard."
Brown went 7-9 for 132 yards in his appearance in Auburn's bowl game.
