Jalen McLeod commits to the Auburn Tigers
Auburn has added a player to one of their biggest positions of need.
Jalen McLeod, formerly of Appalachian State, has decided to join Hugh Freeze and transfer to the Auburn Tigers. Mcleod will have at least one year of eligibility and has the option of using his extra year of eligibility thanks to the Covid year that is applied to all student-athletes.
McLeod is originally from Washington DC and committed to App State in 2019. While at App State, he grew into his frame and found a more natural position for his talents, an outside linebacker who rushes the quarterback.
Now in the SEC, McLeod joins the depleted JACK room that only consists of Elijah McAllister, Keldrick Faulk, and Brenton Williams. After losing Joko Willis and Dylan Brooks to the transfer portal, JACK was seen as a must-get position for the Tigers. McLeod adds both talent and depth to the weakest spot of the Auburn defense for the 2023 season.
The Tigers have had nine players depart from the program within the last few weeks, including three backup linebackers:
Wide receiver Tar'Varish Dawson
Wide receiver Landen King
Offensive lineman Colby Smith
Defensive lineman Jeffrey M'ba
Defensive lineman Tobechi Okoli
Defensive end Dylan Brooks
Linebacker Kameron Brown
Linebacker Desmond Tisdol
Linebacker Powell Gordon
Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings.
