Auburn's Jeremy Garrett ranked top-50 DL coach in college football
Auburn DL coach Jeremy Garrett isn't getting enough credit for what his defensive line did at Liberty last season.
Liberty - who's top three sack artists this past season were defensive lineman - ranked No. 3 nationally in total sacks this season with 41.
The Flames led the country in tackles for loss (109). Under Garrett’s guidance, standout defensive end Durrell Johnson led the nation with 22.5 tackles for loss and added 8.0 sacks en route to being named to the Ted Henricks Award Watch List. Led by Johnson, three members of the Flames defensive line registered double-digit tackles for loss.
The defense was also inside the top 35 national in yards per carry.
Big Game Boomer, a college football social media influencer, has released a graphic ranking the best defensive line coaches in the country. Auburn's Jeremy Garrett is ranked No. 42 nationally.
Here's a look at Garrett's entire resume:
2022-present – Liberty (DL)
2020-21 – Cleveland Browns (Asst. DL)
2019 – Vanderbilt (Defensive Quality Control)
2018 – Ensworth HS (HC)
2011-17 – Enworth HS (Defensive Coach)
2010 – Southaven HS (AC)
With a new set of transfer players to work with on top of what the Tigers held over from last season, there's reason to believe Garrett can elevate Auburn's pass rush alongside defensive coordinator Ron Roberts.
