Auburn football offensive lineman Avery Jernigan no longer with team
Avery Jernigan, a junior offensive lineman for the Auburn Tigers, is no longer with the team, per Nathan King of 247Sports.
"A source close to Jernigan's situation informed Auburn Undercover that the redshirt junior was not dismissed from the team and left on his accord," according to King.
Jernigan was a three-star commit in Auburn's 2020 recruiting class. He was listed as the No. 4 option at center for the Tigers in 2022 and appeared for one snap vs Western Kentucky last season. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
It's an unsurprising move from Jernigan, who would be facing competition with freshman Connor Lew and East Carolina transfer Avery Jones at center moving forward.
It's unclear whether or not he intends to enter the transfer portal in the post-spring window, or if Jernigan is done with football altogether.
This news comes just four days before the Tigers kick off spring practice underneath first-year head coach Hugh Freeze.
