Auburn's quarterback situation will be a talking point until kickoff against the Ole Miss Rebels this Saturday in Jordan Hare Stadium.

Locked On Ole Miss host Steven Willis is covering the visiting side of things on his show. In his "Keys to Victory" segment, his second point was about Ole Miss needing to capitalize on possessions because AUburn will aim to slow the game down. He also mentioned that he believes Robby Ashford will be the starter over Payton Thorne.

"Ole Miss needs to make possessions count because I do expect Robby Ashford to start this game and Auburn to play at a very slow tempo," Willis said. "This is going to be the Arkansas game on steroids. You're going to need to spy Robby Ashford. I think Robby is going to end up starting this game."

Willis brought up Ole Miss' game plan against the Arkansas Razorbacks in a comparison to how Ole Miss would defend Ashford in a similar way to how the Rebels played against KJ Jefferson. Ole Miss won that game 27-20. Jefferson threw for 250 yards, two scores, two picks, and only accounted for 11 yards on the ground.

Thorne has started every game this season for the Auburn Tigers but recent struggles in SEC play as well as rotation questions about the position lead many to think that a change may happen at the quarterback position for Hugh Freeze's Tigers.
