Auburn RB Damari Alston returns to practice
Sophomore running back Damari Alston has returned to practice after missing time due to a shoulder injury.
Alston suffered the injury in the second quarter of Auburn's loss to Texas A&M and was expected to miss a considerable amount of time.
It appears that Alston's recovery is ahead of schedule as he was back on the field today wearing a no-contact jersey.
Alston appeared in every game as a freshman last season and totaled 85 yards off of 14 carries.
So far this season, Alston has picked up 131 yards and a touchdown off of 26 carries. His best performance so far this season came in Auburn's 14-10 win over Cal in which he totaled 51 yards off of eight carries.
Getting Alston back will be beneficial for the Tigers. Brian Battie will not need to take as many carries, allowing him to be more of a threat in the return game.
The 5-foot-10, 209-pound native of Atlanta was not an overly hyped recruit. Alston was the No. 13 ranked recruit in Auburn's 2022 class. He was a 4-star with a 0.8995 composite rating according to 247Sports.
Alston was the No. 328-ranked player nationally, the No. 28-ranked running back and the No. 30-ranked player in the state of Georgia. He continued a streak of running backs coach Carnell "Cadillac" Williams getting the recruit he wanted the most.
Alston was brought to Auburn for a purpose. Now that he has recovered, he can begin working towards it.
