Takeaways: Auburn Fumbles Away Iron Bowl Victory
I'm not sure how to sum up what just happened, but I'm going to try and do it with these takeaways.
The Tigers just lost the Iron Bowl 27-24 in the most unbelievable fashion. A 4th-and-31 touchdown pass from Jalen Milroe to Isaiah Bond gave Alabama the lead with less than a minute left.
There aren't enough words to describe the emotions inside Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Here are five takeaways from the game.
Koy Moore
Moore fumbled the punt that gave Alabama the drive to win the game. This loss would have ended with Moore's mistake had it not been for a 4th-and-31 touchdown given up.
How in the world does Auburn mess it up twice.
How in the world does Auburn give up a 4th-and-31 touchdown to end the game.
Third down defense
Alabama converted third and fourth downs when they needed to in this game. The Tigers tried to hold on on defense but couldn't.
They just couldn't contain Milroe.
Offensive and defensive line play
Auburn has to find a way to get better line play in the future. On both sides of the ball.
Watching the Tigers attempt to create pressure on Milroe drop backs was frustrating to watch. Auburn couldn't get home minus one Marcus Harris sack.
It's embarrassing.
Auburn knows where they go from here
Congrats, Auburn. You finished 6-6 and lost to New Mexico State 31-10. You get a bowl game and an offseason with a list of things to do.
You have to continue to recruit well.
You have to get a better in the trenches.
Find. A. Quarterback.
