Coach Freeze watches Auburn targets Cam Coleman and Daylyn Upshaw catch touchdowns on Friday Night.

Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze was present this Friday night to watch the Central-Phenix City Red Devils and Opelika Bulldogs face off at Garrett-Harrison Stadium in Phenix City, Alabama.

Multiple Auburn targets were all over the field for both teams last night, including the Red Devils' five-star 2024 WR Cam Coleman, three-star 2025 WR Daylyn Upshaw, three-star 2025 OT Mal Waldrep, and many others. 2025 Auburn commit four-star DL Malik Autry was also on the field playing for the Bulldogs.

Freeze went down the road to watch some Auburn targets and a committed play on a Friday night. We haven’t had a head coach put this kind of effort into recruiting on Friday nights since 2020. This is the kind of energy Auburn needs with recruiting. Texas A&M wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig was also present at the game, watching Aggies commit Cam Coleman. Coach Freeze hopes to flip the five-star wide receiver from Texas A&M. Coach Freeze and Coach Craig engaged in conversation the entire first half of the game. 

Cam Coleman was thrown an absolute rocket and made a great high-point catch on Central’s first drive of the game. He had one touchdown reception on the night, also blocking an Opelika defender for his teammate to get in the endzone.

Daylyn Upshaw also had a good night with a long touchdown reception. He caught the first touchdown of the night. 

The Auburn family was happy to see Coach Freeze on the recruiting trail last night. He knows how to recruit and knows he must get out there to do it. Auburn has the No. 14 recruiting class of 2024, and he is steadily working on the class of 2025. Keep a lookout for Coach Hugh Freeze, he might be under the same Friday night lights as you!
