Auburn football placed in familiar bowl in way-too-early 2023 bowl projections
Auburn should be back to bowling in 2023.
After back-to-back seasons with losing records, the Tigers welcome in new head coach Hugh Freeze with hopes that he will revitalize the program after it collapsed for two seasons underneath Bryan Harsin.
According to the latest projections by Big Game Boomer, a big presence in the college football media-sphere, the Tigers are expected to play in the Birmingham Bowl against the UTSA Roadrunners for the 2023 college football season.
Auburn is coming off their worst season since 2012, finishing sixth in the SEC with a 5-7 record. UTSA on the other hand is experiencing a high its program has never had, with head coach Jeff Traylor leading the Roadrunners to back-to-back double digit wins (11-3 in 2022).
UTSA will be led once again by quarterback Frank Harris, who is entering his seventh season in college football.
The Tigers are 1-1 in Birmingham Bowl appearances, defeating Memphis 31-10 in 2015 and losing 17-10 to Houston in 2021.
Both the coaching staff and fans will likely have high expectations than reaching the Birmingham Bowl (typically reserved for one of the worst teams in the SEC) in 2023.
