J'Marion Burnette commits to the Auburn Tigers
Auburn has added another four-star to the 2024 recruiting class in the form of running back J'Marion "Phat" Burnette.
Burnette, the four-star running back out of Andalusia, had a stellar junior season for the Bulldogs. He totaled 1,473 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. This follows a video game-like sophomore season in which he had 2,281 rushing yards to go along with 12 touchdowns.
These stats combined with stellar camp workouts have made him a hot commodity in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He has offers from many of the top SEC schools like Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas.
Auburn has done its best to keep Burnette at the top of its board, and their interest has helped secure multiple visits from J'marion as he has visited four times including Junior Day which took place in January.
Burnette and Caddilac Williams's connection and relationship has undoubtedly been one of the keys to this recruitment, not only as his potential position coach but as a representation of what Auburn running backs are capable of becoming.
The addition of Burnette adds not only talent to the 2024 class but an even more heightened look into the 2025 class. Specifically, the RB class as top targets are Alivin Henderson and Anthony Rogers. Henderson, who is cousins with Burnette, would not only have his already established and close relationship with Cadillac Williams but the addition of his cousin could make Auburn an even bigger factor in his recruitment.
Burnette is added to a class that already holds one of the best quarterbacks in the country, Walker White, and a pair of talented in-state defensive backs in A'mon Lane and Jayden Lewis. Burnette moves Auburn into seventh place in SEC rankings and 17th in the country in class ranking, according to 247 Sports.
