In this story:

J’Marion Burnette is a super important player for the Bulldogs and it showed last night. The first thing you notice when you see #2 is that Burnette is one of the biggest players on the team. Then, when you see him on the field, you notice he is one of the fastest on the team. The most effective combination on a football field is size and speed, which Burnette has plenty of. Burnette will certainly be the biggest running back in the room when he arrives on campus.

Burnette is a 4-star running back who committed to the Auburn Tigers back in March of this year. Burnette and Andalusia Bulldogs took on the Montgomery Catholic Knights last night in Montgomery, Alabama. The Bulldogs had a difficult night for a multitude of reasons against the Knights. Both of the teams being 9-0 set up this matchup to be one of the best games in Alabama 4A. After Andalusia led the game 8-0 going into the half, the Knights offense came alive and started to find ways to get in the end zone. The Knights won 27-14. Burnette played a large part in the Bulldogs' offense with a 2-point conversion and a goal-line touchdown.

The physical attributes that Burnette possesses are impressive, but not as impressive as the things that others have to say about him. I had a chance to talk to multiple people throughout the game about J’Marion “Phat” Burnette. Many talk about how nice he is. Andalusia’s Athletic Director, John Dugger, who had previously coached Burnette in 9th grade, spoke on how often Burnette communicates with him. Phat always asks Dugger where he is going to be sitting at Auburn games when Dugger goes to watch the Tigers play.

Others talk about how involved he is in everything and how much of a leader he is, which is extremely evident from just his social media. He is incredibly vocal and wants everyone to be involved in what Hugh Freeze is building. Burnette is without a doubt a huge part of that. He is a team captain, led the Bulldogs onto the field to start the game, and was the first one on the 50 when the clock read 0:00 in the 4th quarter. He’s the definition of a true leader. He’s needed at Auburn, on and off the field.
