Old Dominion quarterback transfer Hayden Wolff could be a target for Auburn
Auburn is in search of a transfer portal quarterback.
With the portal opening back up on Friday, April 15th, there's a new name that Hugh Freeze and his staff could be taking a look at.
Old Dominion quarterback Hayden Wolff announced Tuesday afternoon that he will be entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with two more years of eligibility.
In 2022, Wolff threw for 2,908 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions on a team that went 3-9 (2-6 Sun Belt) and gave up 34 sacks last season.
Wolff is a veteran quarterback, who can make the correct reads down the field, and is a guy that Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has coached against during his tenure at Liberty.
During the 2022 season, the 4-1 Freeze-led Liberty Flames walked into S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk, VA to take on the 2-3 Old Dominion Monarchs, in which the game ended with a 38-24 victory for the Flames.
Although Liberty won the game by 14, the score doesn’t tell the whole story as the Monarchs went stride-for-stride with the Flames until the very end, led by quarterback Hayden Wolff. Wolff ended the game with 297 yards, two touchdowns, a rushing touchdown and only had one interception against the 36th ranked defense in college football.
With the uncertainty around Auburn’s current quarterback battle, Wolff would give the Tigers an experienced quarterback for the 2023 and 2024 seasons and could be a good mentor for 2024 four-star commit Walker White.
