Rewatch: Jarquez Hunter break the record for longest touchdown in program history
Jarquez Hunter has been the definition of a difference-maker throughout his time at Auburn.
Even though he played second-fiddle to star running back Tank Bigsby, who ended up getting drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round back in April, Hunter played in every game his first two seasons.
During Hunter's freshman campaign in 2021, he picked up 593 yards and three touchdowns off of 89 carries. He also caught 12 passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.
The native of Philadelphia, Mississippi was more effective in 2022, rushing for 675 yards and seven touchdowns off of 104 carries. He also made his presence known in the receiving game, catching 17 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns.
The most iconic moment of Hunter's time at Auburn so far came in his second game.
He ran up the middle for a 98-yard touchdown, the longest in program history.
Hunter ended up with 147 yards and a touchdown off of eight carries in Auburn's 62-0 win over the Hornets. That remains Hunter's biggest game in terms of rushing yards, narrowly beating Auburn's 49-27 loss to Alabama last season.
Hunter is expected to be the leader in a running back room that is loaded with talent. He did not play in Auburn's 59-14 win over UMass last week, but is expected to return to action soon.
