Jarrett Stidham will start for the Denver Broncos over the benched Russell Wilson
It was reported by Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter that the Denver Broncos will be benching Russell Wilson and starting former Auburn Tiger Jarrett Stidham.
This report was an interesting one as, at first, it was reported by these two that Denver was considering holding out Wilson to avoid injury for some contract concerns, but then moments later, they came out and said Wilson was being benched for Stidham.
Regardless of the reasoning, Sean Payton wasn't happy with the offense and is hoping Stidham can turn things around.
With a 7-8 record and two games remaining, the Broncos are still alive to make the playoffs, but it would take two wins and some help. The Broncos have matchups with the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders coming up, and these two teams are definitely beatable.
We have seen that Stidham is a solid backup quarterback in the NFL and has been looking for a shot for a very long time. If he goes 2-0 and gets Denver in the playoffs, the GM might let Wilson "ride" off into the sunset and have Stidham be the guy next season.
All Stidham could ask for is an opportunity and he is getting one with a chance to take the Broncos to the playoffs if he can string a few wins together.
