Football is still in high gear, but the SEC basketball season just wrapped up its opening week with some exciting games.

Auburn opens as our second ranked team and played the game of the week against Baylor last Tuesday. The Tigers led through most of the contest, but came up just short on the scoreboard losing 88-82 to the Bears. Despite the loss, the Tigers look to be a contender for the conference crown with Johni Broome leading the way. The debut of five-star freshman guard Aden Holloway was everything fans were expecting as he scored 19 in the loss, including some deep three's. Auburn finished out the week with an 86-71 home win over outmanned Southeastern Louisiana. The Tigers travel to Brooklyn, NY to take on Notre Dame Thursday night in their only game of the week.

The Tennessee Vols are our top ranked team and opened their season with an easy 80-42 win over Tennessee Tech last Monday. The Vols notched their second win of the season Friday in a much tougher matchup with Big 10 foe Wisconsin. Senior guard Dalton Knecht followed up his 17 point performance against Tennessee Tech with a 24 point outburst in the 80-70 win over the Badgers. Tennessee hosts Wofford this week.

The third rated Arkansas Razorbacks and fourth rated Texas A&M Aggies also opened up their seasons with relatively easy wins last week. The Hogs beat Alcorn State and Gardner-Webb to get off to a 2-0 start. Meanwhile the Aggies also went 2-0 with victories over Texas A&M - Commerce and Ohio State. This week the A&M takes on SMU and Oral Roberts, while Arkansas matches up with Old Dominion and UNC-Greensboro.
