SEC Football Has A Dominant Number Of Schools In 2024 Top 25 Poll

An early top 25 poll has a loaded SEC list of schools

Even with the Big 10 absorbing Southern California, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington, the SEC is still the dominant conference.

247 Sports has its own preseason poll and the SEC has the most teams. Three Big 10 schools make the top eight, but there are five SEC programs in that same group. Most of the SEC schools on the list should not be surprising for college football fans.

Georgia is #1, with Texas at No. 3, and Alabama at No. 6. Those are tradition-rich schools that recruit at a high level, plus spend massive amounts of money on facilities and coaches.

According to USA Today's 2023 College Revenue and Expenses article, Texas, Alabama, and Georgia are the second, third, and fifth-highest revenue-producing college football programs. There are also two SEC programs moving their programs forward that are in the top eight.

Ole Miss is the fifth-ranked team in the poll, while Missouri is eighth. As for the Big 10, it's the usual suspects and a new conference member. Ohio State and Michigan are #2 and #7, while former Pac 12 program Oregon is No. 4.

The revenue perspective is once again not that surprising. Ohio State tops the list at #1, Michigan comes in at #4, and Oregon is 19th.

From the entire top-25 poll, there are nine SEC schools. Joining the aforementioned list would be Tennessee at #11, LSU is #13, Oklahoma at #14, and Texas A&M rounds out the SEC programs at #22.
