Auburn Briefing: Jamonta Waller is 'not just a pass rusher'
Auburn recruiting is red hot right now. Of the several new additions to the list of future Auburn Tigers, Jamonta Waller flipping from Florida to Auburn has fans excited about what this pass rush could look like in the future.
Auburn Daily's Brian Smith spoke on Waller from watching him play live against Notre Dame quarterback commit Deuce Knight.
"He's not just a pass rusher," Smith said. "He will go across the field. There were several plays where the other team's quarterback, who is a freak athlete committed to Notre Dame, he'd run him down and he's 40 to 50 pounds heavier. This kid can go.
"I think they're going to use him in packages for nickel and dime and move him around. You might see him blitz from an inside linebacker position. They'll move him around and you'll see him on the field. Hopefully, by his sophomore year, they'll find that specific spot where they can use him the best."

Bruce Pearl was asked about Chaney Johnson before heading to Brooklyn to take on Notre Dame and either Oklahoma State or St. Bonaventure this weekend.
“You can’t be tentative if you’re taking 11 shots and I loved every one of his shots. I don’t want him to stop taking shots, especially when they are open. He’s athletic, a factor defensively, he’s one of our more physical players, but he needs to be more physical and take advantage of that physicality. We’d like him to finish better. One of the concerns the other night is we had a lot of interior shots that were missed. We have to finish those, whether that’s Johni, Jaylin, Dylan.”
Auburn and Notre Dame will tip off at 8 p.m. CT on Thursday and the broadcast can be found on ESPN2. Auburn will take on either Oklahoma State or St. Bonaventure on Friday. Tipoff will be at either 3 p.m. or 6 p.m. CT and the broadcast can be found on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
