Baylor's Offense Struggles Early as Cowboys Take 16-3 Lead at Halftime
The first half in Waco hasn’t gone as planned for the Baylor Bears football team.
Oklahoma State leads the Bears at halftime, 16-3, after early miscues and a sputtering Baylor offense has the home team in the hole by 13 at the break.
After a strong opening drive by Blake Shapen and the Bears' offense, Baylor was forced to settle for an early field goal and a 3-0 lead.
However, the lead was short-lived as Spencer Sanders, and the Cowboys drove to the field and scored a touchdown on their opening drive to take a 7-3 lead over the Bears.
Following back-to-back punts by both teams, Baylor began its third drive at the one-yard line and elected to run the ball -- only to be met by a slew of Cowboys defenders as Oklahoma State picked up a safety and increased the road team's lead to 9-3.
Punts by both teams once again led to Oklahoma State taking over with good field position at its own 44-yard line, ultimately resulting in a touchdown drive on a quarterback keeper by Sanders to give the Cowboys a 16-3 lead at the half.
Sanders has 174 total yards with two touchdowns at the break, while Shapen has garnered 107 passing yards.
