The Baylor Bears are officially ready to kick off Big 12 play this Saturday as they hit the road to take on the Iowa State Cyclones. While the Bears entered the season as the favorites to win the Big 12, doing so as the reigning champions will make the target on their back that much bigger.

As such, every single week for the Bears in the Big 12 will be a slugfest as they look to repeat as Big 12 champions. The Bears are keenly aware of this, and offensive lineman Connor Galvin is ready for the challenge.

"I've played against them a lot. They're a team that plays hard," Galvin said. "They don't beat themselves. They're tough, and they're physical."

"It's just going to be a game of who does simple better. How well we execute our base plays versus how well they defend our base plays. It's gonna be a fight."

Last season when the Cyclones traveled to Waco, it was a slugfest as well. The Bears would pull out the 31-29 victory, stopping the Cyclones' two-point conversion attempt with less than a minute to go to secure the victory.

While these are two entirely different teams this season, coming so close to victory may only motivate Iowa State more to secure the upset victory. If the Bears want to repeat as Big 12 champions, winning road games in hostile environments like these will be imperative in doing so.
