With Baylor football still 109 days away from kicking off against Albany on Sept. 3 to start the season, some fans find themselves looking ahead to the 2023 recruiting class, and for good reason.

The Bears return a lot of talent from a team that just won the Big 12 championship in 2021 and are primed to repeat, as they appear to be the best team in the conference heading into the season.

However, the Bears also currently boast a top-15 recruiting class for the 2023 cycle, as 247Sports has the Bears 2023 class ranked No. 11. Baylor's 2023 class currently sits at 10 commits, with one of those commits being standout Lake Belton safety Javeon Wilcox.

The Bears were able to land a commitment from the versatile safety, beating conference rivals Texas Tech and TCU, among others.

Wilcox was all over the field for the Broncos in recent 7-on-7 action, flashing exactly why he is a coveted recruit for the Bears in their 2023 cycle. He showcased strong communication skills while on the field as well as the ability to break to the ball and make a play on passes.

Ultimately still a year away, Wilcox has flashed all the tools to be a star safety at the college level and an important piece for the Bears defense moving forward. Bears fans have not only a lot to look forward to in their 2022 season but in 2023 and beyond as well.
