Baylor will try to open Big 12 Conference action with a victory when the Bears face the Iowa State Cyclones at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ames, Iowa.

Baylor (2-1) is coming off a 42-7 win over the Texas State Bobcats. In that game, the Bears put their road loss to BYU behind them. True freshman running back Richard Reese rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns in the game, perhaps solidifying himself as the Bears first option in a crowded backfield. He was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for the effort.

The Bears remained at No. 17 in the AP Top 25 poll.

Baylor and Iowa State will face each other for the 21st time on Saturday, with the Bears owning a slim 11-9 edge on the Cyclones. Baylor has won two of the last three meetings, including last season’s 31-29 win in Waco. Like last year, the two teams are opening the Big 12 slate against each other.

Iowa State (3-0) is receiving votes in the AP Top 25 poll and are coached by Matt Campbell. The Cyclones beat their in-state rival, 10-7, two weeks ago, and defeated Ohio, 43-10, last week.
