How to Watch Baylor vs. Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl
After a disappointing season that began with Big 12 championship aspirations, Baylor (6-6) enters the Armed Forces Bowl as narrow favorites over Air Force (9-3).
It’s not an ideal draw for the Bears. At kickoff, temperatures are expected to be below 20 F, with winds over 30 MPH. By the end of the game, the wind chill will fall below 0 F – prime weather for a triple-option team from Colorado.
Troy Calhoun’s Falcons are looking to win double-digit games in consecutive seasons for the first time since winning the now-defunct WAC in 1998, and for their second Armed Forces Bowl win in six tries under Calhoun.
Despite its name, Air Force gets most of its yards on the ground. Led by Brad Roberts (1,612 yards, 15 touchdowns), the Falcons have nearly as many rushing touchdowns (34) as starting quarterback Haaziq Daniels has completions (36).
Air Force’s overall scoring offense is middle-of-the-road (27.7 points per game, 71st in the FBS). But its true strength is its defense: the Falcons are allowing just 13.2 points per game, third-best in the FBS. They’ve allowed more than 20 points just once this season, in a 34-27 loss at Utah State.
Baylor, meanwhile, is down to one scholarship quarterback and has lost starters Devin Neal and Micah Mazzccua to the transfer portal. The Bears are sitting at .500, and are looking to avoid a losing record a year after winning the Sugar Bowl.
