Matt Rhule BREAKING: Baylor Ex Coach Hired by Nebraska
“The first way to win,'' Matt Rhule likes to say, "is not to lose.''
The former Baylor head coach is now back in the game as of Saturday morning, the University of Nebraska making its hiring official.
Rhule, 47, was responsible for a turnaround at Baylor before moving to the NFL. He was fired this year by the Carolina Panthers, freeing him to return to the college level.
Rhule talked of the “tremendous honor” it is to lead Nebraska.
“When you think of great, tradition-rich programs in college football, Nebraska is right at the top of the list,” Rhule said. “The fan base is second to none, and I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to coach in Memorial Stadium on Tom Osborne Field.''
The school announced it agreed with Rhule on an eight-year contract. ... which may suggest a sort of admission regarding the effort it might take to rebuild the Huskers program.
Rhule earned a reputation as a program builder at Temple and then at Baylor from 2017 to 2019). With the Bears, he went from 1-11 his first season to 11-3 and a Sugar Bowl appearance two years later.
"My family and I are so grateful to become a part of the Husker Family,'' Rhule said, "and we can’t wait to get started.”
