As the defending Big 12 champions, the Baylor Bears might be the top team in the conference once again in 2022.

Outside of a plethora of returning talent, stability at the quarterback position, and one of the top coaches in the conference, the Bears also have tremendous momentum, dismantling a short-handed Ole Miss Rebels team in last year's Sugar Bowl.

Not to mention the Oklahoma Sooners are in the midst of a rebuild after their mass exodus, while the Texas Longhorns are still attempting to build themselves as well.

As a result, media outlets across the nation have increasingly high expectations for Aranda and Co. heading into next season.

Most recently, Baylor found itself with high marks in yet another way-too-early top-25 poll, this time, from CBS Sports.

Here is what CBS had to say about the Bears

5. Baylor

Let's not dismiss the defending Big 12 champions. The Bears beat Texas and Oklahoma last season by a combined 20 points. Dave Aranda is one of the deepest thinkers in college football. Remember his field goal with 3 seconds left against Oklahoma up 10? He had somehow thought ahead to a potential Big 12 tiebreaker. Aranda also named his quarterback starter after the spring. Unconventional? Sure, but that allowed last year's starter Gerry Bohanon to transfer. Told you Aranda was a deep thinker.

Way-too-early ranking: 6

CBS' The full top-10 consisted of Alabama at No. 1, Ohio State at No. 2, Georgia at No. 3, Oklahoma at No. 4, Baylor at No. 5, Michigan at No. 6, Texas A&M at No. 7, Notre Dame at No. 8, Utah at No. 9 and Arkansas at No. 10.

The Big 12 had four total teams in the Top 25, with Texas coming in at No. 17, and Oklahoma State and No. 20.
