Baylor’s Francis Takes 8th in 400, Miller Finishes 7th in 800
The Baylor women’s track and field team added six more All-American honors to the squad’s season accolades after a strong finish at the NCAA Track and Field Championships on Saturday, June 11 in Eugene, Oregon.
Kavia Francis started Saturday night’s BU All-American selection show after competing in the 400 meters.
“Kavia Francis wins her first individual All-American honor with an 8th place finish in the 400 meters!” Baylor Track & Field tweeted Saturday evening.
Aaliyah Miller was the next Bears track star to take home honors.
“One last race & All-American honor for Aaliyah!” Baylor Track & Field tweeted. “She finishes the 800 meters in 7th place.”
The final four girls to be crowned as All-Americans were the 4x400-meter relay team of Mariah Ayers, Gontse Morake, Imaobong Uko and Francis — taking home 8th place.
“One last group of Bears with All-American honors in the 2022 season!” Baylor Track & Field tweeted.
The 4x400 group’s 3:28.89 time is the third-fastest in program history, according to BaylorBears.com.
"We've never run under 3:30 multiple times in a season, so I was pleased with that," Baylor Track and Field Head Coach Michael Ford told BaylorBears.com. "I thought the ladies stepped up and did what they wanted to do. That was one of their goals was to be All-American outdoors."
Koi Johnson also competed for the Baylor women’s track team on Saturday in the triple jump.
“Koi Johnson finishes the triple jump in 13th place with a jump of 42-9 3/4.” Baylor Track & Field tweeted after her competition.
