Is Matthew Mayer Bound for Another Big 12 School?
Goodbye, Matthew Mayer. The star forward for Scott Drew and the Baylor men’s basketball team is taking his talents elsewhere, and that elsewhere is not the NBA. The Austin native withdrew his name from draft contention and is now searching for a home with another NCAA school. With teams like Arkansas, North Carolina, Illinois, Texas Tech, Alabama, Memphis and others on the table, Locked On Baylor’s Drake Toll broke down Mayer’s decision and potential landing spots on today’s show.
Maneuvering into football, how about that guy Dave Aranda? Boy howdy, when you look across the realm of college football and see Jimbo Fisher quarreling in the spotlight with Nick Saban, you can’t help but feel appreciative of Aranda being at the helm of Baylor’s program. Now maybe more than ever, having true class in charge of the Bears is paying off. Aranda would never create this kind of mess.

And the Baylor baseball team is down to its last strike. The squad certainly already has two, and the third would put them out… of the season entirely. Steve Rodriguez and company are Arlington bound — barely — to meet TCU on Wednesday in round one of the Big 12 tournament. What are the odds these guys can catch some fire and ride a miracle run to the NCAA tournament? Slim. But it’s possible. In the event of a Baylor win over TCU, the team would still have to get through Oklahoma State or Texas in the second round. That is not good.
