QB Commit Novosad Values Baylor's Approach After Official Visit
The Baylor Bears are in the midst of a battle for one of their top recruits with one of the country's biggest recruiting juggernauts, Ohio State University.
That recruit, Dripping Springs (TX) quarterback Austin Novosad, is now coming off of off official visits to both programs, most recently with the Bears.
And by all accounts, Novosad was very pleased with his trip to Waco.
"It was really good," Novosad told Inside the Bears.com. "Great to connect with the whole coaching staff again!"
Novosad has been committed to Baylor since December and has been a foundational piece of the Bears' impressive class thus far in the 2023 cycle.
And despite the added pressure from a program like Ohio State, Novosad values the Bears' consistent approach to both his recruitment and the way they are building their program in general.
"Not really," Novosad said when asked if the Bears had changed their approach. "They stayed with their values which was person over player."
With that said, it is still going to be a tough decision for the rising Texas gunslinger.
Especially considering the last couple of days that the Buckeyes have had on the recruiting trail, landing commitments from arguably the top two wideouts in the nation, Brandon Innis and Carnell Tate.
"It’s tough," Novosad said. "They all have pros and cons, so just ultimately the one that has the most positive and family environment."
For now, however, he will focus on the coming weeks, including a trip to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles.
Novosad will be joined in Los Angeles by other top talents from around the country, including Malachi Nelson (USC), Dante Moore (uncommitted), Christopher Vizzina (Clemson), Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma), Jaden Rashada (uncommitted), Eli Holstein (uncommitted), and presumably, Arch Manning (uncommitted), among others.
At that time, he will likely still be mulling over his decision, with other programs still trying to knock on his door as well.
In his junior season with Dripping Springs, Novosad completed 208 of 327 passes for 3,399 yards and 40 touchdowns with nine interceptions, on his way to being named the Texas District 12-5A-I overall MVP.
In his sophomore campaign, he was named the Texas District 12-5A D-I Offensive Newcomer of the year, throwing for 2,887 yards and 36 touchdowns with just six interceptions.
