Baylor Lands Commitment From In-State DL Trent Thomas
Closing in on the end of a very eventful recruiting weekend in Waco, the Baylor Bears landed their second football commitment of the day on Sunday, in Fort Bend Marshall (Missouri City, TX) defensive lineman, Trent Thomas.
Thomas made the announcement on his personal Twitter account.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound edge rusher now joins offensive lineman Wes Tucker as the Bears second commitment of the day and the 12th in the class overall.
Tucker chose the Bears over other offers from a plethora of FBS offers, including Arkansas State, Colorado, Houston, Louisiana, Louisana Monroe, North Texas, Sam Houston, San Diego State, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa and UTSA.
The Bears first offered Thomas on May 20, and quickly jumped to the front of the pack, landing an official visit with the talented pass rusher on June 10.
During his junior season in 2021, Thomas helped lead Fort Bend Marshall to a 10-1 overall record and a Texas 5a D-II playoff appearance.
Thomas is now the fifth defensive commitment of the 2023 class for Dave Aranda, joining linebackers Taurean York and Christian Brathwaite, and safeties Javeon Wilcox and Cory Huff Jr. He is the first defensive line commitment of the class.
The Baylor class is headlined by its offensive commitments, including Dripping Spring (TX) quarterback Austin Novosad, who officially visited Ohio State over the weekend.
