Taurean York was an early believer in Dave Aranda at Baylor.

The Temple (Texas) High School linebacker was one of the first verbal commitments to the Bears 2023 recruiting class, jumping on board back in February.

"The relationships," York told SI All-American's John Garcia, Jr., as to why he picked BU. "They’re winners, and their scheme is amazing."

Since the pledge to the Bears, the 6-foot, 214-pound linebacker has gone through spring football ahead of his senior season, and other programs have come in with new interest and scholarship offers.

While BU still has his attention, emphasized by an official visit in mid June, other programs could continue to get him on campus as well.

Duke did after offering recently, as he took an official visit to Durham. It appears both LSU and Ole Miss, two SEC West programs, could be next in line.

"Man LSU and Ole Miss are trying to get me," York said. "Pushing hard for me. I'll probably take OVs (official visits) to LSU and Ole Miss during the season."

That fall trip won't be the first time the rising-senior recruit checks out Baton Rouge. The NCAA dead period ends in late July, and a trip to south Louisiana could be in order for July 29 as Tiger assistants Will Redmond, Mike Ferrara, Will Clouden and Matt House work a potential flip.

"I want to see what they have to offer," York said. "It's SEC football, the new staff is focusing on academics heavy and  they have a good brand of football."

Of the Rebels, assistant coach Maurice Crum has led the charge.

"They think very highly of me, coach Crum is a great guy," York said. "I like OM for sure."

There are currently no other key dates for the Texan when it comes to seeing other programs. He remains on board with Baylor through the additional interest.

"I'm still their boy," he said. "But I worked too hard not to see what the rest of the country has to offer. I shut my recruitment down quick."

Baylor has one of the biggest recruiting classes in America, sitting with 22 verbal commitments to date
