Boston College Men’s Basketball Defeats Old Dominion in Opening Round of Cayman Islands Classic
The Boston College Eagles (4-1, 0-0 ACC) men’s basketball team won its opening game in the Cayman Islands Classic with an 82-52 victory over the Old Dominion Monarchs (2-4, 0-0 SBC) on Sunday night.
The Eagles came out aggressive from the get-go and played dominant on both sides of the ball for the entirety of the game.
In its best outing of the season so far, Boston College shot 43.3-percent from the floor and 38.5-percent from behind the arc. Ten Eagles scored at least one point and two recorded double digits. Guard Donald Hand Jr., led the team in scoring with 12.
As a team, the Eagles tallied 13 points off 13 Monarchs turnovers, however the biggest impact came from bench points where Boston College outperformed Old Dominion 37-13. Defensively, the team tallied five steals and three blocks to aid in the success.
Guard Roger McFarlane made a mark as well. The graduate led the team in rebounds with 11 and assists with five.
The Eagles 82 points tied the most they have scored all season. The only other time came on Tuesday in their 82-61 win over Loyola Maryland.
Next up, Boston College continues its run in the Cayman Islands Classic and takes on Missouri State on Monday night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
