Boston College vs. Richmond: Final Thoughts And Predictions
After an emotional win over the Virginia Tech Hokies, it will be up to the Eagles to keep their foot on the gas against their FCS opponent the Richmond Spiders. While you never want to look past a team, Richmond is not a North Dakota State or James Madison, and should be a team BC can beat up on both sides of the ball. They were a .500 team last year in the FCS, and are 1-0 this year after beating Jacksonville State soundly in the opener. But the Eagles are going to need to stay focused, hopefully get a big lead, and get those starters out of the game as quickly as possible. The last thing the Eagles need is to have AJ Dillon out there taking hits in the fourth quarter.
5 Key Questions
1. Can BC Exert Their Will With A Vanilla Offense? Those of you who are hoping to see the Eagles throw out some trick plays and funky formations are going to be disappointed this week. I'd expect BC to just line up and exert their will in the trenches. You will probably see lots of David Bailey and Patrick Garwo, but I'd expect Anthony Brown to throw it too, and the play action should be just what they need to win this.
2. Can BC Shut Down A RPO Offense? Richmond is going to run the ball, and they are going to run it alot. This is a perfect chance for the Eagles to get some game time reps against an offense they will see later in the season. Could be an important game for the defensive line.
3. Can BC Limit Mistakes? BC really didn't make a ton of big mistakes last week against VT. They had the Kobay White interception, but that was on a gimmick play that didn't work. Of course you don't want to see any turnovers, but BC also needs to limit penalties, drops and missed tackles. A game against an FCS opponent is a good litmus test on where they are in those areas.
4. Will BC Make Some Special Teams Plays? Aaron Boumerhi missed a field goal, Grant Carlson shanked a punt, it would be advantageous for the Eagles to make a play or two on special teams this week.
5. What Does BC Have Further Down In Depth Chart? We saw what the starters did last week, but it's time to see what else BC has. Who does BC have behind Zay Flowers, Ben Glines and Kobay White at WR? How about the linebackers and secondary? Even with an opponent that should be an easy win, getting to see what you have is important to the coaches, and can be worth a watch for the fans. If BC goes up early, hopefully we will get to see what they have at QB2, with either Dennis Grosel and Matt Valecce.
BC Will Win If: They go out and execute, get Richmond off the field and limit any momentum changing turnovers.
BC Will Lose If: They have multiple turnovers deep in their own territory, they cripple themselves with mistakes.
Pregame Music To Get You Ready To Rock Alumni Stadium
Hey look I picked a song that is not hip hop! Everytime I hear this song now I think of BC, it's become a pretty cool tradition amongst the students.
Beer of The Game:
Old Planters Brewery: El Milagro Dry Hopped Mexican Lager
Just visited this brewery last weekend, and really enjoy this beer. I was expecting a Corona type beer, but this had a flavor that was unique, delicious and definitely worth retrying. And hey it's not an IPA!
Food of The Week: AJ's Buffalo Chicken Dip
This has been a favorite of mine since I and I definitely included it a few times back when wrote with BC Interruption. But hey, this is a new site so it gets to be included again. It includes about a metric ton of different cheeses, shredded chicken and tons of Frank's Red Hot. Just some amazing artery clogging goodness. Email me or shoot me a message here if you want the recipe, I'd be happy to share it!
Fan Excitement Gauge: 2/10
A home game is always a good time, but it is really hard to get up for an FCS squad. Weather is going to be overcast and kind of gloomy. Just have to hope BC goes in and takes cares of business and no one gets banged up.

Prediction Contest
It is not too late to join our contest, BC Maven is giving away a $25 gift card to the BC Bookstore for the winner, $15 for second and $10 for third. Remember all you have to do is get your predictions in the comment section below. If you want to win, just enter your comment with your score. Good luck!
Standings: The way I score the points is by taking away the difference from each individual prediction score from the actual score combining those and getting the sum (For instance TxAggie had a score of 1). Lowest sum gets the points. In the event of a tie, I gave two teams those points, hence two teams got 2nd place points.
Txaggie_2011: 3 points (BC 34, VT 27)
BCStas2018: 2 points (BC 35 VT 24)
TheThrowGame: 2 points ( BC 31, VaTech 28)
DollardBillsYo: 1 Point (BC 34 VT 24)
