Boston College Football: Welcome To Louisville Week
Sitting at 3-2, Boston College is not where they should be after going through what should have been the easiest part of their schedule. However, this week they have the rebuilding Louisville Cardinals, a team BC has beaten twice in a row. But this is not the undisciplined team of Bobby Petrino, these Cards are disciplined and hungry and most of all they want to win for their coach. Last year Louisville was a mess, they lost every conference game and were near the bottom in every statistical category.
So far this season they are 2-2, with wins over Western and Eastern Kentucky and losses to Florida State and Notre Dame. But looking at those two losses, the Cards have battled. Against the Fighting Irish they delivered blows and hung with them for most of the and against FSU they were with them until late in the 4th quarter. This is a scary team, and a team salivating for their first ACC win since 2017.
On offense Scott Satterfield's club are not a dangerous team passing the ball. They have thrown it for just a little over 200 yards a game, flipping between Malik Cunningham and Jawon Pass at quarterback. However, their run game is prolific, ranked 22nd in the country, running a lot of options with the aforementioned QBs, and a pair of running backs in Javian Hawkins and Hassan Hall who have ran for over 600 yards between them, averaging over 5 yards a carry.
Their defense is a mixed bag right now, but I would never rule out a Scott Satterfield D. Right now they have allowed 400+ to FSU and 500+ to Notre Dame, while really limiting the direction Kentucky schools. We need to see more with that defense, but you know the coach will have them ready. Can Boston College figure it out in what will will be a rocking hostile crowd. We shall see.
Storylines Going Into The Game: Steve Addazio, most likely on the hot seat after two losses and a murderers row of opponents coming up, is he playing for his job this week? Will the defense continue to build upon some of their successes, or will the third down struggles continue? BC ran over Louisville for 250 yards and three touchdowns last year, can they do it again?
Vegas Line: Louisville (-4)
Random Louisville Forest Factoid: Via Wikipedia, the film The Replacements is rumored to be based on Ed Ruppert a former Louisville quarterback who went on to play with the Washington Redskins during the 1987 strike season.
