Finding Hope, Enduring the Addazio Era

All we can do is hope

Finding Hope, Enduring the Addazio Era /

Friday night was embarrassing. As I texted my BC friends, got text from other friends, scrolled through Twitter and just watched as Kansas scored drive after drive after drive all I felt was embarrassment. How could BC football be this bad?

I don’t need to go through the stats or factoids about not just the loss, but the Steve Addazio era because Heights columnist Peter Kim already has. He nails everything not just about the 48-24 loss to Kansas but the entire Addazio era. We all know what Daz is as a head coach: not that good.

So, I’m not going to rehash it all again. It’s tiring, painful and won’t be much fun to read. So, all I can do is hope…

I hope that the team rebounds and never plays like that again starting this week vs Rutgers. No more humiliations. Make us fans proud.

I hope that our offensive coordinator, Mike Bajakian, and defensive coordinator, Bill Sheridan, put the players in positions to succeed. I put the majority of the blame for Friday’s debacles on the coaches. We’re not talented enough to overcome poor schemes. Be better.

I hope that our kicking game starts making kicks. Seriously, how hard is it to make field goals from 40 and in?

I hope that Addazio does some self-reflection and realizes his shortcomings and does something, anything, to correct them.

I hope that we figure out a way to go bowling. Yes, I know what you’re thinking. I’ll address that below. In the meantime, I hope we go bowling so our players can enjoy everything that goes with it. I hope we go bowling because we'll have get more wins this year, and I don't know about you, but I'm always in a better mood after an Eagles win.

I hope that Martin Jarmond lives up to his “Greater Heights” campaign. Maybe after he’s done touting his resume during sideline interviews, he’ll actually start reviewing some resumes of potential new head coaches. Even if our current one makes a bowl this year, we know that we’ve plateaued as a program under him. 6 wins or 7 wins isn't enough. It'd be time to move on and try and elevate the program under a new leader. Despite what a vocal minority of the fan base might think about Addazio being the best BC can do, I don’t hope – I know – it’s not.

I hope the fanbase finds a way to keep cheering on the Eagles. I know. It’s tough after such a deflating loss. We just lost to freaking Kansas. It feels helpless as we endure another season of Daz doing Daz things. But if you’re reading this, you’re a part of #SOAR Nation. We’ll get through this together.

Go Eagles. Beat Rutgers. #SOAR
