Boston College Football Shuts Out Duquesne in Home Opener
The Boston College Eagles football team (2-0, 1-0 ACC) defeated the Duquesne Dukes (0-2, 0-0 NEC) 56-0 at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the team’s first shutout since 2021.
Eagles quarterback Thomas Castellanos had a nearly perfect performance in the home opener as he went 9-of-10 for 234 yards and four touchdowns with passes to wide receivers Lewis Bond and Reed Harris, tight end Kamari Morales, and running back Treshaun Ward.
Boston College also saw rushing touchdowns from Ward, running back Datrell Jones and quarterback Jacobe Robinson as well as a pick-six from defensive back Khari Johnson.
On the other side of the ball, the Eagles defense tallied 52 total tackles from 26 different players which included 16 players that recorded multiple tackles. Defensive tackle Sedarius McConnell and linebacker Daveon Crouch led the way with four tackles each. In total, the group tallied six tackles for loss, five passes defended, two interceptions, and one sack.
Duquesne had an opportunity to score in the third quarter after the defense recovered a fumble by Eagles quarterback Jacobe Robinson, however kicker Brian Bruzdewicz missed a 31-yard field goal to keep the Dukes scoreless.

- Boston College goes three-and-out. Duquesne gets the ball back at its own 26-yard line.
- The Eagles defense forces a Duquesne punt and Boston College gets the ball at its own 27-yard line.
- Boston College turns the ball over on downs after an incompletion on a 4th-and- 3 at the DUQ7. The Dukes take over deep in their own territory.

- Duquesne can’t capitalize on the Eagles error. The team goes down the field and gets into the red zone, but kicker Brian Bruzdewicz misses a 31-yard field goal attempt. Boston College 42, Duquesne 0.
- Boston College quarterback Jacobe Robinson enters the game in place of Thomas Castellanos. Robinson fumbles the ball during a sack on Boston College’s first possession of the second half, recovered by Duquesne. The Dukes get the ball at their own 47-yard line.
- Duquesne quarterback Darrius Perrantes throws his second interception of the afternoon on the Dukes first possession of the second half. Eagles defensive back Jalen Cheek recorded the pick and Boston College will take over at the DUQ44.
Second Quarter:
- The first half comes to a close. The Dukes will get the ball to start the third. Boston College 42, Duquesne 0.
- The Eagles score on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Castellanos to Treshaun Ward, his second of the day. The extra point is good. Boston College 42, Duquesne 0.
- After the Eagles force a Dukes punt, Boston College drives down the field and scores on a 49-yard touchdown pass from Castellanos to wide receiver Lewis Bond. Castellanos is now 8-of-9 for 204 yards and three touchdowns. The extra point is good. Boston College 35, Duquesne 0.

- Duquesne is forced to punt on its second drive of the game. The Dukes originally went three-and-out, however a running into the kicker penalty on the Eagles gave the Dukes a second chance but Duquesne couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity. Boston College gets the ball at its own six-yard line.
- Led by two big catches from wide receivers Jerand Bradley and Lewis Bond, the Eagles march 80 yards down the field in seven snaps and score on a three-yard touchdown run by running back Treshaun Ward. The extra point by Luca Lombardo is good. Boston College 7, Duquesne 0.
- The Dukes go three-and-out on their first possession of the afternoon. The Dukes gained just five yards on the play. A touchback gives the Eagles the ball at their own 20-yard line.
- The Eagles open the game with a quick three-and-out. Punter Sam Candotti shanked the punt and Boston College was called for an illegal formation penalty on the play. Duquesne gets the ball at the BC42.
