No. 2 Boston College Men’s Hockey Shuts Out No. 4 Michigan State in Season Opener

The Eagles start their 2024-25 campaign with a victory.

The No. 2 Boston College men’s hockey team (1-0) opened its season with a 3-0 victory over the No. 4 Michigan State Spartans (2-1) at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing, Mich., on Friday night. 

The Eagles offense was led by forward Will Vote, who scored a pair of goals in the second period that were assisted by Lukas Gustafsson, Michael Hagens, and James Hagens. 

In the same period, Boston College’s first line also put a score on the board with a goal by forward Oskar Jellvik with 28 seconds remaining. Gabe Perreault and Ryan Leonard were credited with assists.

As a whole, the Boston College offense outshot Michigan State 29-24.

Eagles goalie Jacob Fowler had a stellar outing as he tallied 24 saves and recorded the shut out. In total, the Boston College defense blocked 12 shots, while the Spartans blocked 14. 

The series finale is set for Saturday evening at 6 p.m. ET on B1G+.
