The No. 2 Boston College Eagles (5-1) men’s hockey team defeated the No. 10 St. Cloud State Huskies (6-3) 2-1 on Saturday night.

The Huskies struck first and took the one-score advantage within the first five minutes of the contest with a goal by center Verner Miettinen.

St. Cloud State held the lead for the entirety of the opening frame, however Boston College slowly chipped away as the game progressed.

Eagles defenseman Eamon Powell tied the game at the 6:38 mark of the second period with help by James and Michael Hagens, who each tallied an assist on the score.

Right winger Gabe Perreault put Boston College in front for the first time at the 3:23 mark of the third period with an assist from James Hagens, his second of the night.

Although Perreault’s goal ended up being the game winner, it didn’t come without a battle.

Eagles defenseman Drew Fortescue was called for a major penalty for hitting from behind after a challenge from Huskies head coach Brett Larson at the 18:58 mark of the third.

Boston College played the final 62 seconds on a 6-on-4. In total, Eagles goalie Jacob Fowler tallied eight saves in the final frame.

With the win, Boston College will head into Hockey East play next weekend on a four-game winning streak. The Eagles will host the No. 7 Maine Black Bears for a pair of games starting on Friday night.
