No. 2 Boston College Men’s Hockey Falls Short in Back-and-Forth Battle With No. 4 Michigan State

The No. 2 Boston College Eagles (1-1, 0-0 HE) men’s hockey team lost to the No. 4 Michigan State Spartans (2-1, 0-0 B1G) 4-3 on Saturday night to split the series. 

The back-and-forth battle gave both teams advantages at the end of the first two periods of the contest. 

After going down one score, Eagles forwards Gabe Perreault and Ryan Leonard each scored a goal in a 70 second span to give Boston College the 2-1 lead at the end of the opening frame. 

The Spartans fought back and scored three goals in the second period by forwards Red Savage, Charlie Stramel, his second of the night, and Daniel Russell to put Michigan State back in front. Eagles defenseman Lukas Gutsafsson also recorded a goal in the period to keep the deficit within one. 

Boston College had multiple looks in the third period as the team attempted 13 shots on goal but couldn’t put anything in the net.
