It is Selection Sunday and BYU is a lock to be in the NCAA Tournament. It's not a matter of if BYU's name will be called, it's a matter of where they will be seeded and where they will play. By most bracketologists, BYU is projected to be a 5-seed in this year's tournament. The Cougars have an impressive resume - they have wins over seven teams that will play in the NCAA Tournament. Four of those seven wins were over teams that could be top five seeds.

  1. Iowa State (projected 2-seed)
  2. Baylor (projected 3-seed)
  3. Kansas (projected 4-seed)
  4. San Diego State (projected 5-seed)

Iowa State dominated the Big 12 tournament on their way to a championship. BYU's 87-72 win over the Cyclones looks better and better by the day. BYU nearly got Iowa State again a few weeks ago in a narrow 68-63 loss.

BYU's signature road win came at Kansas. The Jayhawks, who are projected to be a 4-seed, were undefeated at home this year until BYU beat them in the Allen Fieldhouse.

BYU turned its season around with a win over Baylor. The Cougars were coming off their worse loss of the season at Oklahoma State when they returned home to Provo and overcame a slow start to beat the Bears. That was the first win in a stretch where BYU won 5 out of its next 7 games.

BYU has another three wins against teams that will be in the field of 68:

  1. Texas (projected 8-seed)
  2. TCU (projected 9-seed)
  3. NC State (11-seed)

NC State just made one of the best conference championship runs in the history of the sport. The Wolfpack won five games in five days and won the ACC tournament as the 10-seed. BYU beat NC State in a neutral site game way back in November. Thanks to NC State's run, that win is an extra boost to BYU's resume.
