BYU Forward Braeden Moore Reportedly Enters Transfer Portal
BYU forward Braeden Moore has entered the NCAA transfer portal according to Verbal Commits. Moore was a true freshman last season who didn't appear in any games for the Cougars.
Moore came to BYU by way of Donda Academy in California where he played his senior season of high school basketball. He is originally from Nashville, Tennessee. Moore was a three-time all-district and two-time all-region region player at Christ Presbyterian Academy. He was also a Tennessee Mr. Basketball Finalist as a junior. Moore was a late addition to the 2023 recruiting class and he reported competing offers from various Power Six schools when he signed with the Cougars.
Moore is the second BYU basketball player to enter the transfer portal since the end of the season and the first scholarship player to enter the portal. He joins BYU big man Hao Dong in the transfer portal. The transfer window for college basketball opened on March 13th and closes on May 11.
Moore's departure opens up a scholarship that BYU can use to bolster its roster for next season. As we outlined last week, BYU only had one scholarship available before Moore entered the portal.
As long as Mark Pope is the head coach at BYU, the transfer portal will be an important part of the program. BYU's coaching staff has already contacted various players in the portal and will continue to contact dozens more over the next several months.
Stay tuned for more transfer portal updates in the coming weeks.
