KenPom Predicts BYU Basketball vs Southeastern Louisiana
On Wednesday night, BYU basketball hosts the Southeastern Louisiana Lions in the Marriott Center. The Cougars, who are coming off a win over nationally ranked San Diego State, are looking to remain perfect and improve to 3-0.
KenPom, the industry leader in college basketball analytics, predicted BYU-Southeastern Louisiana. KenPom gives BYU a 96% chance to win with a projected final score of 86-67.
Southeastern Louisiana is coming off a 86-71 loss to Auburn.
KenPom likes BYU's chances to have a great record going into the conference slate. KenPom picks BYU to win every game on the non-conference schedule except the road game at Utah. KenPom predicts a close game between BYU and Utah in that game, but he gives a slight edge to the Utes with a projected final score of 76-74. It's worth noting that KenPom does not have a prediction for the second round of the Vegas Showdown - he won't make a prediction until BYU is assigned an opponent.
If KenPom's predictions come to fruition, BYU could have a 11-1 record going into the conference opener against Cincinnati. If BYU can get to 11 wins before the conference schedule, the Cougars would likely need to win only 7-8 conference games to make the NCAA tournament. KenPom currently projects BYU to finish with a 20-10 record.
