Big 12 Men's Tournament Bracket
The first round featured West Virginia-Cincinnati and UCF-Oklahoma State. The Bearcats beat the Mountaineers 90-85. Cincinnati advanced to the second round where they took on Kansas. Kansas was without leading scorer Kevin McCullar and star big man Hunter Dickinson. McCullar has been dealing with an injury over the last month and Dickson left the game against Houston last Saturday with a dislocated shoulder. Both are expected to be available for the NCAA Tournament.
BYU's game against UCF was a quad two game and an opportunity for BYU to boost its NCAA Tournament resume. As of Tuesday morning, BYU was on the cusp of a 4-seed. As of Friday morning, BYU was still the top 5-seed despite the loss to Texas Tech.
No. 1 Houston locked up the top seed in the Big 12 tournament last week with a dominant win over no. 14 Kansas. Houston will take on the winner of Baylor-Iowa State in the championship.
4-seed Texas Tech ended the regular season on a high note. The Red Raiders went into the tournament on a three-game winning streak. All three wins were by double digits. BYU and Texas Tech faced each other early in the conference schedule. BYU took a 17-point lead into the halftime locker room, then Texas Tech stormed back for the 85-78 win. Texas Tech got the best of BYU once again in the conference quarterfinals.
