BYU Football Offers Oregon DL Transfer Treven Ma'ae
The BYU coaching staff has already added 14 transfers to the roster for the 2023 season, and they still have multiple scholarships to use on transfers. On Tuesday, BYU identified another transfer target: Oregon defensive line transfer Treven Ma'ae. Ma'ae spent four years at Oregon, appearing in 29 games for the Ducks and racking up 34 tackles, 3 sacks, and 6 tackles for loss. He also tallied 10 quarterback pressures during his time with the Ducks.
Ma'ae, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, has received competing offers from Baylor, Boise State, West Virginia, and Hawaii since entering the transfer portal.
Ma'ae prepped at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a three-star prospect who picked Oregon over competing offers from the likes of Oklahoma, USC, Utah, Arizona State, Washington, Virginia, TCU, Nebraska, and Cal among others.
Defensive line was a position of great need after the 2022 season. Hill and staff have already addressed some of the needs in that position group, but adding Ma'ae would go a long way in securing more depth and talent for 2023.
Since arriving in Provo, Jay Hill and the new defensive staff have hit the recruiting trail in search of players that fit their scheme. BYU has added seven transfers on the defensive side: Boise State transfers Isaiah Bagnah and Jackson Cravens, Weber State transfers Eddie Heckard and Nuuletau Sellesin, Utah State transfer AJ Vongphachanh, and Southern Utah transfers Dylan Flowers and Wyatt Dawe.
Stay tuned for more transfer portal updates in the coming weeks.
