BYU Wants Fans to Stripe the Stadium Against Sam Houston State

BYU released a map indicating what color fans should dress against Sam Houston State

On Sunday, BYU Athletics asked football fans to stripe the stadium for the season opener against Sam Houston State. The communication arrived via email - BYU asked fans to wear either royal or white depending on the section number of their tickets. The sections will alternate between royal and white with the exception of the student section - the students will be asked to wear royal in all sections. Below is the official map from BYU with the color assignments.

BYU hasn't asked fans to stripe the stadium in many years. The last time BYU asked fans to stripe the stadium was in a home game against Georgia Tech in 2013. Cougar fans wore navy and white as they watched a 38-20 win over Georgia Tech.

This will be the first home game where BYU fans will stripe the stadium in royal blue and white. It will be a night game that will kickoff at 8:15 PM local time. For BYU, it will be the first football game  as a member of the Big 12 conference. It will also be a historic game for Sam Houston State who will be playing its first game as an FBS team. The Bearkats joined Conference USA for the 2023 season.

The Cougars open the 2023 season with two home games against Sam Houston State and Southern Utah. After the two-game home stand, BYU will travel to Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks.
