Eastern Michigan WR Transfer Darius Lassiter Commits to BYU
On Tuesday, Eastern Michigan transfer wide receiver Darius Lassiter committed to BYU. Lassiter took an official visit to Provo last weekend, and after taking a few days to think about his BYU visit, he shut down his recruitment and committed to the Cougars. Lassiter picked BYU over competing offers from Colorado, Washington State, Pitt, Boston College, Tulsa, ECU, UConn, Toledo, and UNLV. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Lassiter was a priority target before Kody Epps decided to transfer. Once Epps entered the portal on Sunday, getting Lassiter to commit became a need for the BYU wide receiver room. Having Lassiter on the roster will go a long ways in replacing the lost production from Kody Epps. Lassiter spent just one season at Eastern Michigan where he racked up 471 receiving yards on 40 receptions including 4 touchdowns. Lassiter got better as the season went on and his role within the EMU offense grew. His best performance came in the Potato Bowl where he caught six passes for 108 yards including two touchdowns.
Lassiter is a native of Chandler, Arizona. He signed with Eastern Michigan out of the JUCO ranks. He played at Butler Community College in 2021 where he finished with over 700 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He was named a JUCO All-American and was selected to the First-Team All-Conference team after the 2021 season.
BYU isn't done adding wide receivers to the roster, but getting a commitment from Lassiter is an important first step to being Big 12-ready come Fall Camp.
